Melrose Place fans are divided over the casting of Ashlee Simpson-Wentz in the show's upcoming CW reboot, but those who are angry have one person to blame: Bronx Mowgli.
The singer-actress took the gig to remain close to her three-month-old son, according to People. "She wanted something stable so she could be close to her baby," a friend of Simpson-Wentz said. "She was specifically looking for something in television as her next step, that filmed in Los Angeles, so she wouldn't have to be away from Bronx."
So is Ashlee giving up on music? "Music is still a passion, but [Ashlee] felt this was the best thing for her and her family at this point in her life," the friend said. "She's really excited about Melrose Place."
In the news Melrose, Simpson will play Violet, a small-town girl with a secret who relocates to L.A. Simpson has previously starred in 7th Heaven and will be seen alongside hubby and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz in the March 18 episode of CSI.
Simpson-Wentz and Bronx are in Europe, where Fall Out Boy is touring.
