Arrow Scoop: ER's Alex Kingston Cast as Laurel's Mother

Alex Kingston has joined the cast of Arrow in a recurring role, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The ER alum has been tapped to play Dinah Lance, the mother of Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and the ex-wife of Det. Lance (Paul Blackthorne). Dinah will return to Starling City later this season — wearing black fishnets? — to make amends with her family, whom she abandoned after the death of her other daughter on The Queen's Gambit.

Kingston, well known for playing Dr. Elizabeth Corday on ER, recently had a recurring role on Doctor Who.
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
