Aretha Franklin Recovering from "Highly Successful" Surgery
Aretha Franklin said she is recovering after undergoing a "highly successful" surgery for an undisclosed ailment.
"God is still in control," Franklin told The Associated Press in a statement. "I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country. God bless you all for your prayers!"

The Queen of Soul had the surgery Thursday at a Detroit hospital. The reason for the surgery was not revealed.
Last month, Franklin, 68, canceled all of her performances through May.
