Anna Paquin: Bisexuality Wasn't a Big Secret

Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin says she never considered her bisexuality to be a secret before she came out to promote gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality.

"It wasn't like it was a big secret. It was just a cause I cared about and privately supported, but not one that I had ever had an opportunity to speak out about in a way that would be useful," Paquin told Zap2It's Dish Rag. "Obviously I know that one person's voice doesn't necessarily do that much, but I just wanted to do my bit."

Anna Paquin: I'm bisexual

The True Blood star announced she was bisexual in a PSA video for the True Colors Fund, a nonprofit co-founded by Cyndi Lauper that supports LGBT equality. Paquin, who's engaged to her True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer, said she didn't hesitate to say yes when she was asked to participate.

"I'm not someone who endlessly talks about her personal life for no reason," she said. "But obviously, as someone who identifies as bisexual, those are issues I really care about — and frankly, I don't see why everyone doesn't care about them."
