Ann Coulter Cries Foul Over Today Cancellation

Ann Coulter

The "liberal media elite" is taking another bashing, and this time it's not from Sarah Palin.

Controversial conservative pundit and author Ann Coulter took to her website to bash NBC's Today show for its last-minute cancellation of her first- and fourth-hour appearances on Tuesday. Coulter was set to promote her new book, Guilty: Liberal 'Victims' and Their Assault on America, and suggests it was her right-leaning rhetoric that caused the cancellation, not NBC's claim that the show wanted to devote more time to the Middle East conflict.

"I guess this ends the 'they just want to get ratings' argument about liberal media bias," Coulter wrote. She also bashed NBC on Monday night's Hannity & Colmes on Fox News. "I know the whole thing was a setup to block me from other TV shows," Coulter said.

Coulter appeared on CBS' Early Show instead Tuesday, but stuck to promoting her book.

In response to Coulter's claims about being "blocked" and a story on the Drudge Report suggesting Coulter had been banned from Today for life, NBC says no way

"We've had Ann Coulter on Today many times, but because of the news in Washington and the Middle East, we decided to cancel her appearance on Tuesday morning," a Today spokesperson tells TVGuide.com. "Understanding the media as well as she does, we are sure she knows this happens from time to time. We have extended an invitation for her to join us on Wednesday."

Despite Coulter's initial response ("I think I'll accept and then cancel at the last minute"), she is a confirmed guest for Wednesday's program, NBC says.
