Angela Bassett Joins ABC's Identity Pilot

Angela Bassett has landed the lead role in ABC's drama pilot Identity, Deadline reports.
Based on a British series, Identity revolves around an elite police unit that focuses on identity-related crimes. Bassett will play Martha, the special agent in charge of the unit. Producer Mark Gordon (Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice) and writer John Glenn (Eagle Eye) are developing the project.

Earlier this season, Bassett was attached to another ABC pilot, One Police Plaza, in which she was to play New York City's first female police commissioner.
Bassett was last seen on TV on the final season of ER. She stars in the upcoming films Jumping the Broom and The Green Lantern.
