Get Committed: What the Heck Was That on American Horror Story: Asylum?
[Warning: This story contains major spoilers from Wednesday's American Horror Story: Asylum. Read at your own risk or the scary monster will come get you.]
And here we thought Bloody Face would be the scariest part about Briarcliff. Apparently, there's a giant monster roaming the halls of American Horror Story: Asylum's manor that will definitely make us sleep with the lights on tonight. So what beast did Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) run into? And why didn't it kill her? We take a look at Wednesday night's biggest mysteries below:
Get Committed: Who is Bloody Face on American Horror Story: Asylum?
Is Bloody Face immortal? After being stabbed several times, Leo (Adam Levine) somehow was able to overpower Bloody Face and come to Teresa's (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) rescue, after which she then stabbed the apparently ageless serial killer repeatedly. However, as the lovers made a run for it, not one, but two more Bloody Faces showed up and shot them in cold blood. It turns out, there were demented copycats in Briarcliff trying to make a kill. But that original Bloody Face that Teresa stabbed? Still very much alive — and not a copycat. Run!
The nun undone: Sister Jude begins to lose it as she's haunted by killing that little girl all those years ago. First, an old newspaper about the missing girl shows up in her mail drop, then she gets a phone call from someone who sounds like the little girl, leading her to drink down all the wine Sister Mary Eunice (Lily Rabe) conveniently left on her desk — which causes her to nearly reveal her indiscretion to the whole ward. While drunkenly roaming the halls, Jude runs into a giant scary monster (that's only way we know how to describe it!) Could this be the thing that was living in that scratched up room and may have ripped Leo's arm off? Or is it one of the aliens who abducted Kit (Evan Peters)?
The devilish Sister Mary Eunice: That's right, the devil is inside Sister Mary Eunice and it's not long before she's making her presence known. Not only does she try to push Sister Jude's buttons, but she murders one of the patients who knows the devil has possessed her, and feeds her to the Raspers. She also tries to seduce Dr. Arden (James Cromwell), but he turns her down because, you know, he apparently hates dirty talk. So, how long until people figure out who Mary Eunice really is?
Get Committed: 5 things we learned from the American Horror Story: Asylum premiere
Wendy's fate: Lana (Sarah Paulson) enlists Dr. Threadson's (Zachary Quinto) help to pass along a message to Wendy (Clea Duvall), but he realizes all too soon that Wendy may be the latest Bloody Face victim. Since Kit is locked up, Lana realizes he can't be the serial killer and tries to tag along on his and Grace's (Lizzie Brochere) escape plans — but they're thwarted by the Raspers and sent running back into the asylum for safety. Oh, the irony. How soon until they try to escape again?
Dr. Arden or Dr. Frankenstein? After believing that Kit was sent there to spy on him, Dr. Arden attempts to place that freaky, seemingly alive chip back inside the poor guy to (we think) no avail. But he does get his kicks in by trying to rape Shelley (Chloe Sevigny) after she tries to escape. After his, ahem, shortcomings prevent that, he decides to permanently prevent her from escaping by chopping off her legs. Seriously, what is wrong with this guy? (Note to self: Never insult Dr. Arden.)
