Alyson Hannigan to Be a Mother; Is Lily Pregnant, Too?

Forget about the momma of Ted's children. How I Met Your Mother has a new (soon-to-be) mom in town: Alyson Hannigan.

The actress and her husband, Buffy and Angel alum Alexis Denisof, are expecting their first child together next year, her rep tells TVGuide.com.

Hannigan and Denisof (who guested on Mother in Season 1) met on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1999 and tied the knot five years ago.

Will the actress' pregnancy influence Lily and Marshall's storyline? After all, observant folk noticed in the 2009 flash-forward from last week's "Intervention" that Hannigan's Lily merely sniffed her $2,500 glass of scotch instead of drinking it. Asked to comment on Hannigan's news and what it might mean for the Eriksens, series cocreator Carter Bays tells TVGuide.com, "We are thrilled for Alyson and Alexis, and we know that they are going to be amazing parents. It's too early to say how this will impact the show going forward, although we may have to push the 'Lily wins a gold medal in gymnastics' storyline to next season."
