All My Children

Mark your calendars, soap fans! The final episode of All My Children will air Friday, September 23, ABC announced Thursday.

After more than 40 years on the air, All My Children will "end in a manner that respects the show's legacy and honors its history," the network said in a statement.

Carol Burnett returning to All My Children

Beginning Monday, Sept. 26, the soap will be replaced by The Chew, a one-hour live show centered on food and hosted by restaurateurs Mario Batali and Michael Symon, Top Chef's Carla Hall , What Not to Wear's Clinton Kelly and nutrition expert Daphne Oz.

Among the All My Children alums returning to the show before it signs off are Carol Burnett, Eva La Rue, Josh Duhamel, Thorsten Kaye and Cady McClain.

One Life to Live, which ABC canceled at the same time as All My Children, will air its last episode in January, and will also be replaced by a daytime talk show.
