Alicia Keys Leads AMA Nominations

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys will be the woman to beat next month at the American Music Awards. The songstress nabbed a leading five nominations, including the big kahuna, Artist of the Year.

Her other four nods are for female artist and favorite album, As I Am, in both the Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories.

Nipping at her heels with four nods are Coldplay and oldies but goodies, The Eagles. Both bands are up for Artist of the Year, Pop/Rock band, duo or group, and Pop/Rock album for Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends for the former; Long Road to Eden, the latter.

Also duking it out for Artist of the Year are Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, who each scored three nods. Lil Wayne was shortlisted for Rap/Hip-Hop male artist and Rap/Hip-Hop rap album for Tha Carter III, while Brown earned nominations in Pop/Rock male artist and Soul/R&B male artist.

Other nominees include Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Kanye West, Mariah Carey and Flo Rida.

Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Taylor Swift, The Pussycat Dolls and New Kids on the Block will perform at the Nov. 23 festivities, to be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Previously announced performers were Pink and the Jonas Brothers.

Winners will be determined via online voting between Oct. 14 and Nov. 7 at amavote.com, so go rock the vote.
