Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette will bring her alt-rock sensibility to Showtime's Weeds this season, playing Dr. Audra Kitson, a "no-nonsense obstetrician" who treats pregnant Nancy.

Morissette will appear in at least seven of the season's 13 episodes, which kick off June 8. The recording artist joins Jennifer Jason Leigh (who was recently cast as Nancy's estranged older sister) as one of Season 5's rather special guest stars.

Morissette's previous acting gigs include three 2006 episodes of Nip/Tuck and the Kevin Smith films Dogma (where she was no less than the Almighty) and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Other Weeds scoop, courtesy of Showtime: "Nancy's pregnancy brings security, then jeopardy and maybe the end of Esteban's political career; Celia's return to Ren-Mar brings a powerful new job prospect, Andy's new love interest brings unexpected consequences; and Doug and Silas open a new pot club."
