True Blood's Alan Ball Bringing New Series to Cinemax

Alan Ball

Cinemax is prepping to launch a new series from True Blood creator Alan Ball, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Banshee follows an ex-con who poses as a murdered sheriff in a small Pennsylvania Amish town. There he enforces his own kind of justice while developing plans to serve his own ulterior motive.

Ball is developing the series, slated to shoot in the spring, along with writers Jonathan Tropper and David Shickler. The three will also executive-produce along with Peter Macdissi.

HBO's sister network is looking to develop original programming with Fridays as the anchor night. Starting this week, Strike Back, which follows an American special-ops agent working with an elite British military unit, premieres. Twelve episodes of a show based on the Transporter films also have been ordered.
