Her husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan, took to Twitter on Wednesday to confirm the news.

"IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!" Bachchan tweeted. "Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Both Aishwarya and the baby are doing great and taking some much needed rest."
It's the first child for Rai, the 38-year-old Bollywood superstar and former Miss World. She and Bachchan married in 2007.
