Hollywood Actors Achieve Tentative Commercial Contract

The two unions for Hollywood actors now have a tentative contract in place covering their members' work in commercials.
The previously anticipated, three-year agreement calls for a 5 percent increase in wages and about $21 million in additional contributions to union health and pension plans, the Los Angeles Times reported. It also includes, for the first time, a scale for work made for the Internet, according to the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, which bargained jointly.
The roughly 100,000 members of SAG haven't had a contract in place for film and television work since summer. AFTRA split off and negotiated its own contract for its 77,000 members.
