Big Love's Mireille Enos stars as the lead detective. Billy Campbell (Enough), Michelle Forbes (True Blood), Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash) and Brent Sexton (W.) also star. Veena Sud (Cold Case) will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

"We were drawn to the project immediately after viewing the original format," Susie Fitzgerald, AMC's SVP of scripted development and current programming, said in a statement. "Veena's adaptation has everything we loved about the original and more — it is compelling and addictive storytelling."

The Killing will be AMC's fifth original series and its first in the crime genre. It is slated to premiere in March.
