AMC Developing Goodfellas Series

AMC is developing a TV series based on Goodfellas, Deadline reports.
Nicholas Pileggi — who wrote the Martin Scorsese mob classic and Wiseguy, the book on which the movie is based — is attached to co-write the series with Jorge Zamacona (Homicide: Life on the Street). Goodfellas producer Irwin Winkler and his son David also will return to produce. Scorsese, however, is not on board in any capacity yet.

A TV adaptation of Goodfellas, which starred Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci, had been in the works since September 2010. The film won Pesci an Oscar for Supporting Actor and was nominated for five more, including for Picture and Director.
