AMC Picks Up Untitled Project From Cold Case Producer

Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman

AMC has given a full series order for the untitled Veena Sud pilot formerly called The Killing, the network announced Wednesday.

Based on a Danish TV series titled Forbrydelsen, the show centers on the investigation into a young girl's murder, as well as the politics connected to the case.

The Shield star joins AMC zombie drama

Sud (Cold Case) and Mikkel Bondesen (Burn Notice) will executive-produce the series, which stars Mireille Enos (Big Love) as the lead detective. Billy Campbell (Enough), Michelle Forbes (True Blood), Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash) and Brent Sexton (W.) also star.

"We are thrilled to be moving forward with this stunning piece of television," said Joel Stillreman, AMC's senior vice president of original programming. "It is a crime drama, but it is also a gripping character based story that pulls you in and doesn't let go. The storytelling is completely compelling, and the show is visually breathtaking."

It's the fifth original series that AMC has greenlighted.

Production will begin this fall in Vancouver, with the series slated to premiere next year.
