AMC Cancels The Killing

The Killing

AMC will not renew mystery series The Killing, the network announced Friday. But the show may find life elsewhere.

The Killing Finale: So, Who Killed Rosie Larsen?

"After much deliberation, we've come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season," the network said in a statement. "AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project."

Fox Television Studios, which produces the show, issued its own statement, saying it plans to shop the show around to other networks.

"Fox Television Studios is extremely proud of The Killing, the extraordinary writing staff and crew, and what we believe is one of the best casts on television," the statement reads. "We will proceed to try to find another home for the show."

The Killing's first-season finale angered many critics and fans by not resolving the murder of Rosie Larsen. After that mystery and several other remaining loose ends were tied up in June's Season 2 finale, speculation that the series might not be renewed for a third season began.
