It's official: Dancing With the Stars All-Stars is coming. For the show's 15th season, fan favorites from the past 14 seasons will compete for the chance to take the Dancing title, ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee said Tuesday on a conference call with reporters about the network's fall schedule.
The All-Stars edition is currently in the midst of casting and Lee wouldn't comment on specific contestants the network is hoping to bring back.
Dancing's results show will move up to 8/7c on Tuesdays, to make way for "an edgy, sophisticated, incredibly inappropriate comedy block," consisting of Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23. After Dancing wraps in January, the comedy block with expand to include How to Live With Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life) (a title Lee refers to as "our highest-testing title of the year") and The Family Tools.
Fall TV scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?
As for Revenge
's move from Wednesdays to Sundays, following Once Upon a Time
, Lee said, "Both have real cinematic ambition. They're going to be a great pairing."
Lee also has high hopes for new drama series 666 Park Avenue
, which is positioned at 10/9c after Revenge
. "This show is as delicious as its lead-in. It has a fabulous cast and a real dark twist to it... Sunday night will be a battle between good and evil from 8 until 11."Nashville
, starring Hayden Panettiere
and Connie Britton
, will take over Revenge
's Wednesday slot — a move Lee calls a "win" for both shows.
ABC's Fall Schedule: Revenge to Sundays; TGIF comedy block returns
In November, the network wants to resurrect TGIF, turning Fridays into "a destination for broad family entertainment." The comedy block — featuring Tim Allen
's Last Man Standing
and Reba McEntire
's new series Malibu Country
— will be followed by Shark Tank
, a show Lee says the network was "very patient with."
"I seem to remember Jimmy Kimmel
taking cracks at me for it last year, but it has become a huge asset for us. People love it, families watch it together. We think it's really an anchor for our Friday night."
Lee is confident that midseason newcomer Zero Hour
will be a "crowd-pleaser," comparing it to The Da Vinci Code
. It marks Anthony Edwards
first prime-time series since leaving ER
10 years ago. Mistresses
and Red Widow
will also debut midseason.
