Pilot Season: FNL, American Horror Story's Connie Britton Joins ABC's Nashville

Connie Britton

Connie Britton won't be off your TV screen for very long. She has just landed the lead in ABC's Nashville pilot.

The family soap takes place among the Nashville music scene. Britton plays Rayna James, a faded country musician whose career gets a shot in the arm by teaming up with rising young star Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere). As previously announced, Jonathan Jackson, Powers Boothe, Robert Wisdom, Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio will co-star.

Britton is best known for her Emmy-nominated performance as football wife Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights, as well as in the 2004 film on which it was based. Most recently, she starred on the first season on Ryan Murphy's anthology American Horror Story.

Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise) and RJ Cutler wrote and will executive-produce the pilot.
