Nicholas Sparks and Noah Hawley

ABC has bought four new dramas, including Nicholas Sparks' first series project and a crime drama from a pair of Castle producers, TVGuide.com has learned.

Sparks, who's numerous novels have been adapted into such films as The Notebook and Dear John, has sold The Watcher to the network, a drama about Archangel Raphael, who decides to cut off his wings to spend his life with his human soulmate Sarah. When Sarah tragically dies, Raphael decides to perform miracles undercover as he searches for the meaning of his loss. Kristin Hahn co-wrote the pilot.

Written by Moira Kirland, The Murder Season focuses on Mia Donnelly, a troubled FBI profiler who's struggling to hide a secret. Kirland, who's also worked on Medium and Dark Angel, will executive-produce alongside fellow Castle producer Laurie Zaks, whose credits include Saturday Night Live.

Safehouse is a CIA drama about a young and foolhardy agent who joins a crew of agency professionals that is headed up by his estranged mother. Written by Chris Hollier, Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein will produce.
