Book of Mormon Tops Tony Nominations

Book of Mornon

The Book of Mormon — from the creators of South Park — leads the 65th annual Tony nominations with 14, including best musical and best direction.

The Scottsboro Boys follows with 12 nominations. Both productions will vie for the best musical honors against Catch Me If You Can and Sister Act.

Good People, Jerusalem, The Motherf**ker with the Hat and War Horse are up for best play.

The Book of Mormon  — written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone  — also earned four nominations for its stars Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells, who will duke it out for lead actor in a musical; Rory O'Malley (featured actor in a musical); and Nikki M. James (featured actress in a musical).

Notable nominees include Oscar winners Al Pacino (The Merchant of Venice), Frances McDormand (Good People) and Vanessa Redgrave (Driving Miss Daisy). Also: John Larroquette (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), Billy Crudup (Arcadia) and Bobby Cannavale (The Motherf**ker with the Hat).
