Chuck Episode Recap: "Chuck vs. the DeLorean"

When Sarah has to deal with her dad returning as the consummate con man, she's got to bring the crew together to go deeper into the mess to catch a Sheik on the CIA terror watch list. Will her dad disappoint her? How will Chuck handle the situation?

Once again, this episode starts with a memory — this time circa 1990. This time it's a young blond girl (Sarah) innocently riding her bike down what looks like Main Street in Butte, Montana. We see an armored truck loading in some bags of cash. As the truck pulls away, there's a scream and it appears the truck has hit poor little Sarah on her bike. A mustached doctor, played by Gary Cole, comes rushing to her aid, picks her up, and drives her to the hospital. In the car, our innocent girl Sarah isn't so innocent. So we finally get to meet her dad. As we saw previously, we knew about her past life; her Dad, Jack Burton, chased by the DEA, CIA and FEDs and hidden money in case of emergency. In fact, as a brace-faced teen she was approached by CIA Director Graham to join. That before he was blown up in "Chuck vs. the First Date" to be a featured player in Fox's 24.

Cut to Sarah in the Orange Orange talking to Chuck about taking a personal day. She's very secretive and Chuck is ever so probing and nosy. She doesn't give him any gossip so he takes the info to Casey who confirms the personal day. Not taking no for an answer, Chuck decides to spy on Sarah. He does his best to follow her until his GPS watch gives him away. At that same moment he flashes on a scar on Cole's wrist telling him all the sordid details. Not before he puts his giant sized 12 foot in his mouth by calling Cole a total loser, a very older man, and scum of the earth, Sarah introduces them — Cole as her dad and Chuck as her boyfriend.

At Buy More, none other than Anna Wu is back! Am I the only one who missed her in the last few episodes? Morgan and Anna are going steady as Morgan tries to seduce her in the video room. How romantic! He wants to hook-up while she wants a little privacy. She proposes to move in together at a swanky apartment complex. Morgan recoils in fear at the idea saying this is the best place to be in both literally and figuratively). Morgan shows his true cluelessness about relationships. However, he did mention living at home and his mother. This opens the door to another potential star casting opportunity. Will the show take a detour down that path? If so, who will be the lucky lady?

So Jack thinks Sarah is running an angle with the fake name and fancy apartment. He's got a bushel of cash from Sheik Rajiv Amad — a Saudi man who it turns out has been on the CIA terror watch list for years. Sarah has no problem arresting him, regardless of his family status. General Beckman wants Sarah and Chuck to investigate this further to get more info on the Sheik and her dad to see what else he might be up to.

So the three head out to dinner and Jack is forthcoming with what exactly he did. It's his biggest caper yet — he pulled a Lichtenstein — basically selling an opportunity to buy the famous L.A. Nagamichi office tower (the same that was featured in Die Hard). The problem is he has no right to sell the building. Lichtenstein is fake. Well, back in the lobby, a gaggle of Arab men walk by Chuck who flashes on them. In this very small world, that just happens to be the Sheik, with his henchmen. They find Jack and demand their money back. He tries to pull a fast one by bringing Sarah into the caper calling her Lichtenstein's personal secretary. With a gun discreetly pointed at her, she clams up only to be trumped by Lichtenstein sitting in a chair. Only it's Chuck playing him. The Sheik is adamant about a meeting. Either he gets his money; the building or he's dead.

Back in adult world, Morgan is making his breakfast of champions at Awesome and Ellie's apartment. Morgan's at a loss for what to do with Anna's recent proposition. Awesome puts it bluntly — he has no car, no credit and no future ambition. It's time for him to grow up. In fact, Awesome believes in Morgan so much he's willing to loan him money. You see, friendship doesn't have a price. But it does come with an interest rate and late fees.

As Morgan walks the lonely path to tell the good news to a sexy waving Anna, Lester and Jeff interrupt him. They have to show him to sexiest thing to arrive at Buy More in years. No, it's not female. It's a DeLorean circa 1981. Morgan jumps at the chance to buy it from the guy.

The CIA has been trying to find the Sheik's hidden bank accounts so General Beckman wants the team to sell the building and get at least $10 million so they'll be able to see foreign bank account info. The CIA will not claim knowledge, as this is fraud. It certainly sounds like a Mission: Impossible job.

At Buy More, Awesome is on the hunt for Morgan because he discovered Morgan squandered the money on the car instead of the apartment. He runs into Lester and Jeff who talk as if it's Back to the Future. Jeff ponders a little too long about wanting to go back in time to witness Lester emerging from the vaginal canal. Anna's also steamed as she finds this out two. Just then, Morgan comes back from the DMV with DEMORGAN plates. Anna and Awesome are furious. He's got 24 hours to return the money or be hair plucked from head to toe — starting in the groin area, as Anna says, which he won't be using for a while.

Meanwhile at Mission: Impossible, Sarah has convinced Jack to go big. Only he'll split the money 4 ways. Casey and Chuck are included. Casey, with his cop face, plays security while Chuck, as Lichtenstein and only knowing German, has to remain absolutely silent.  The plan is to evacuate 51st floor, redecorate it, and make the deal happen. Everything seems to be going well until the Sheik brings his own translator so Chuck, in his best Hogan's Heroes German accent, starts speaking English and calls the deal off. Because the original tenants are headed back to the office, they need to wrap the deal up quickly. The Sheik is insistent that the deal goes through and pays the $10 million. Jack, Chuck and Sarah make it out on time as the Sheik finds out he's been taken. But there's been a switcheroo — Jack has made off with the laptop that contains the Sheik's bank account info.

We learned just recently that Chuck's own father had his own problem and it seems that Sarah and he have even more in common with a set of disappointing fathers. Chuck eloquently tells her she's not responsible for her dad's sins.

Meanwhile General Beckman sends Casey to get Jack at a downtown hotel. When Casey gets there he discovers the room has been ransacked. It looks like Jack has been found by the Sheik. The Sheik calls Sarah to get money or kill poor dad. She doesn't have the money and doesn't know where it is. Sarah warns the Sheik if he hurts her father she'll kill him.

Back at Buy More, Chuck, a little melancholy, is asked by Morgan to borrow $2,500. Chuck relinquishes and heads to the ATM only to find his bank account has been slightly enriched — by $10 million!

Sarah muscles up back at the Castle filling some duffle bags with t-shirts. Casey follows in hot pursuit. Sarah meets up with the Sheik to exchange the bags supposedly filled with cash for her dad. At gunpoint things go wrong until Chuck drives up in the DeLorean with a wireless laptop to wire the money back to the Sheik. He enters his account number (which Casey has been secretly monitoring) only to order them all killed. Then Casey drives up impersonating a Treasury Department agent and arrests Chuck as Lichtenstein and Sarah. Casey secretly slips Sarah a gun and there's a bit of a shootout. The Sheik takes off in the DeLorean not knowing its top speed is only 22 MPH. Chuck calls in the car as stolen.

Back at the Castle, General Beckman reports they were able to freeze the Sheik's account for $1 billion. Unfortunately, Beckman also wants to arrest Jack for the previous embezzlement. Casey, being generous, reminds her that he was instrumental in apprehending the Sheik and getting the bank account info. Beckman promised to tell the prosecution.

Back at Buy More, Morgan tells Chuck that the DeLorean was stolen. Just as Chuck is about to confess what really happened Morgan exclaims that he'll be able to get Blue Book value for the impounded car and actually make a profit. So Anna has decided to decorate the living room in Shabby Chic. Just then Lester and Jeff tell Morgan about another beauty that has just come in. Warnings aside, Morgan zips over. It's TV flashback week as they all drool over the immaculate 1969 Charger, none other than Dukes of Hazzard's General Lee.

Wrapping everything up, Sarah needs to say goodbye to her dad before he gets arrested. He confesses to her that of all the people, he trusts Chuck with the money and trusts Chuck would never hurt her. Minutes before he's supposed to get picked up, she sends him on an errand so he won't be there when the cops come. She can't bear to send him to jail. Chuck runs into Jack as he walks out of the hotel and he tells him to take care of her. He says he'll do his best.

What did you think about Gary Cole as Sarah's father? What about the episode? How about those cool cars?
