Tom DeLay may be down, but he's definitely not out: The Dancing with the Stars contestant suffered a pre-stress fracture in his right foot but says he is doing everything he can to keep on dancing.
"I'm very cognizant that if it breaks I may have to leave the show, so I am trying to follow the doctor's orders. His orders were relative rest," DeLay tells TVGuide.com. "Let me put it this way: I'm going to dance until the foot breaks."

His foot started hurting Saturday, he says, and he finally went to the podiatrist Monday after a tough first hour of rehearsal with partner Cheryl Burke. "Now I'm walking around in ugly hiking books. I'm icing every 30 minutes and we're not dancing for as long a period of time and I'm resting longer," DeLay, 62, says. "When I'm dancing, it's fine. It's when you quit that it starts telling you, 'That was not good!'"

The former House Majority leader already had a cortisone shot in his left foot, which is now fine. He says he's not too concerned about how his limited rehearsal time will affect plans for the season's Monday debut, since he and Burke have been rehearsing for five weeks. But if he survives until the second week, he'll have less than a week to learn a new routine.
"I'm hoping the foot will be OK," he says. "I'm going to the bitter end — whatever happens!"
