Dancing Cancels Chimp Segment After PETA's Protest

PETA won't allow any monkey business on their watch.
ABC's Dancing with the Stars nixed their original plan to use a chimpanzee as a mock guest judge on Tuesday after animal rights group PETA protested the segment, according to Variety.
Which contestants are off Dancing — and why?
During Monday's episode of Dancing, host Tom Bergeron mentioned on-air that a chimp would be joining the following evening's show.
"That prompted PETA to contact executive producer Conrad Green first thing [Tuesday] morning with a plea that the chimp segment be canceled," PETA senior vice president Dan Mathews said.
After Green obliged Tuesday afternoon, he wrote an email that read: "I do appreciate your point that showing a chimpanzee on our show may indirectly lead to other chimpanzees being ill-treated in the future."
