The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Complete Series — Review
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - The Complete Series
James Bond fans, new and old, behold: a TV series (and DVD set) after your own heart. This release, handsomely packaged in an attaché case, features all 105 episodes of the Golden-Globe winning series that combined foreign spying with 1960s cool like no other show. Starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum (who's still going strong on NCIS), the unlikely partners approached every case and in their own wacky, tongue-in-cheek style, attempted to thwart the plots of THRUSH, both stateside and abroad.
The 41-disc set features all four seasons, the first of which was filmed in black and white. The pilot, however, is also offered in color as part of the more than 10 hours of bonus features. Other features include nine different "Secret Intelligence" featurettes that explore the series' style and wacky gadgets, a look back at the show's numerous guest stars and "debriefings" with filmmakers and cast, including Vaughn and McCallum.
The episodes are as clear and crisp as ever, and even though the series featured cartoonish plots in later seasons, it's still loads of fun to watch. The seasons are individually packaged, which protects the discs nicely compared to many complete series and also allows for easy shelving if the attaché case isn't your thing. This is a must-own for any fans of the show and will make a sweet gift for dad or any spy lovers in your family this holiday season.
