Jeers: Sleeping with the Enemy

Alfre Woodard, Madchen Amick, Saffron Burrows

Jeers to My Own Worst Enemy for wasting a trio of talented actresses in its pilot.

Saffron Burrows has stolen scenes in everything from Deep Blue Sea to The Bank Job, but she was given only two brief bits as schizo secret agent Christian Slater's shrink (even Lorraine Bracco got more screen time on The Sopranos). Alfre Woodard, who was squandered on Desperate Housewives, mostly spouted exposition as Slater's handler — her only character touch seems to be that she sometimes walks with a cane. And Twin Peaks vet Madchen Amick is stuck with the thankless role of Slater's apparently oblivious wife.

It's like the writers spent so much time developing Slater's dual personalities that they forgot to give the other characters a single one.
