Jeers: Three More's a Crowd on Housewives

Gail O’Grady, Frances Conroy and Lily Tomlin

Jeers to Desperate Housewives for squandering three terrific actresses in one-dimensional parts.

Six Feet Under's sublime Frances Conroy deserves a deeper role than the wealthy widow who hired Carlos as her personal masseuse after he unwittingly gave her orgasms. (She also hired Gabby as her personal shopper, to secure Carlos' services). NYPD Blue alum Gail O'Grady moved beyond sexpot roles long ago, so why is she stuck playing the real-estate agent Lynette suspected of having an affair with her husband Tom (but who's actually sleeping with her teenage son, Porter)? And the estimable Lily Tomlin just looks silly in leather and leopard prints as Mrs. McClusky's badass sister.

Maybe Wisteria Lane's not big enough for three more Desperate women.
