Cheers: Everything's in Order

S. Epatha Merkerson, Anthony Anderson and Jeremy Sisto, Law & Order

Cheers to Law & Order for sticking with a winning lineup.

After replacing half its cast last season, Dick Wolf's long-running NBC drama has blessedly returned intact (and where it belongs, on Wednesdays at 10 pm/ET). The bearded team of Jeremy Sisto and Anthony Anderson are the comfiest cop duo since the heyday of Jerry Orbach and Jesse L. Martin, and they're ably supported by S. Epatha Merkerson's bulwark, Lt. Van Buren.

Linus Roache has sharpened the show's second half-hour as executive ADA Michael Cutter, and Jack McCoy's promotion to DA has enabled Sam Waterston to explore his character's political ambitions. And while I initially questioned the casting of ultraglam Alana De La Garza as Connie Rubirosa, compared to SVU's balsa-wood ADA Michaela McManus, she's Dame Judi Dench.

In short: Ejections overruled!
