NCIS's Rocky Carroll: "Thank You All for the Amazing Responses"
Greetings,
Wow!! Thank you all for the amazing responses. I'm very glad to be back in touch with you. I wasn't sure what kind of response I would get by starting this blog again and I was hoping that some of you that I remember would respond. So nice to hear from you Jonih59, Meridith, Erin Lee, Mrs. Grim, Agentncis, Joanna, Su, Lillian, Breezy, meli, Holly, Amy, Jena, Csifan, Kamesha, Katya... If I forgot to mention anyone, my apologies. And to those of you who are new to this blog, welcome. I was overwhelmed by the number of responses that I received, thank you all.
After being out of touch with you for six months, I realize that there's a whole lot to discuss. I must admit, I did wince when I started to read your responses and some of you started to make lengthy exchanges with each other, but I quickly remembered how long it had been and you guys needed to vent a bit. So, I was OK with that for the first entry. I want as many people as possible to contribute to this blog. As much as I enjoy reading your responses, may I ask that if any of you would like to have longer discussions with each other that you please exchange email information or whatever form of communication you prefer and continue your discussions that way? I don't want anyone to shy away from weighing in on this blog, and ongoing entries between two people might be a deal breaker for others. Thank you, I don't want to impose any rules on you, I just want everyone to enjoy and feel that they can be a part of the discussions.
So where do I begin? I think I'll start with last week's episode "Faith," one of my favorite episodes to date. As I mentioned before, I never watch the show before it airs on Tuesday night. I don't like to watch advanced copies of an episode — I prefer to watch NCIS and NCIS: LA the same way the other twenty million fans watch it. I watched "Faith" with my wife. We don't get to watch the show together very often. Our work schedules don't always allow for us both to be in front of the TV every Tuesday. Fortunately, we were able to check out the episode together. My wife is no pushover when it comes to TV (even if her husband's a member of the cast), but I watched her as she got caught up in the episode. I listened to her laugh at Tony's escapades — how can you not laugh? He's hysterical at times — and we were both misty eyed by the end of the show. When the show ended, I turned to her and said, "That's why twenty million people watch this show." If someone had never seen NCIS before, I'd tell them to watch "Faith." To me, it's what makes this series so special. I know that Vance was not a part of the episode —actually, his presence was felt, thanks to a brief conversation with Dinozzo — but that doesn't matter. We got to see the all of team Gibbs. Everyone doing what they do best. You're right, JustJaenette, nothing's better than team Gibbs.
A few of you mentioned the actress (Paula Newsome) who plays Mrs. Vance. She was last seen in the "Endgame" episode. I think she's pretty terrific too. I'm proud to say that Paula and I have been friends since college. I was absolutely thrilled when she was chosen to play the role of "Jackie Vance." I will be sure to pass on to her all the nice things that you've written about her.
So, many of you want to know what Gibbs whispered to Ziva in "Good Cop, Bad Cop." This is when being an "insider" should be most helpful, right? Well, as a member of the cast, a person who is in the NCIS trenches on a pretty regular basis, someone who has a good working and personal relationship with both Mark and Cote...I have absolutely no idea what he whispered to her in that episode! I have a feeling that only Mark and Cote know, but I would guess that if our executive producer Shane Brennan finds out that a lot of fans are dying to know, we will all find out somewhere down the road.
I don't know what my future on NCIS: LA will be in the New Year. I was contracted to appear in six episodes and we've completed them in the first half of the season. I'm not sure if director Vance will appear in the second half of the season; I'll keep you posted. I wish the cast and crew of the spinoff all the best. They're a great group.
It's great to be back in touch with you all.
More soon,
Rocky Carroll
