Ghost Whisperer Producers Offer Tips for Dealing with Supernatural
Hello!
We've got good news and not-so-great news. In the not-so-great category, we're not on the air this week. On the "good news" side, we've got lots going on at Ghost Whisperer and we're gonna bring you into the fold right now.
So, lets get going — we'd like to help you fine tune your paranormal radar. Supernatural things are taking place all around us in ghost land here at Universal Studios, and most likely it's happening all around you, too. Did you know that Jim and Melinda's house is the Boo Radley house that they built to shoot the brilliant movie To Kill A Mockingbird? When we shoot in and around the house there's always lots of ghost activity. Our crew has even put equipment down in the house and if they turn away and come back, it's moved. It's a very noisy house — especially when none of us are in it.
Here are some tips to determine if you are in the presence of an earthbound spirit:
Things that Go Bump: You may hear unexplained knocking, banging, creaky footsteps or door opening and closing when no one's around. These are good indicators that there's more than meets the eye. (But before you go lock, stock and barrel for placing quince seeds over each door, get an exterminator to check the property to make sure that rodents aren't responsible for the nose. Check Mary Ann Winkowski's website in regards to quince seeds and ghosts.
Hide, You Seek: Ghosts like to frustrate you by shifting things around (like your car keys) — as evidenced by the Boo Radley house we mentioned earlier.
Touchy Feel Icky: If something brushes past you, touches your hair or puts a hand on your shoulder, but when you look over, nothing is there, it's likely a spirit is trying to connect.
Shadow People: If you see shadow movement independent of living, breathing humans, there may be a ghost in your midst.
Spirit Orbs: If there are glowing spheres or ghostly shapes in the photos you take, you've got company.
If you're experiencing one or more of these events, you should first check and re-check for a "logical" explanation. If you find no plausible explanation, don't panic. As we've learned from our ghost experts, Mary Ann Winkowski and James Van Praagh, many spirits are there to warn you or let you know that they love you or miss you — or they need your help because they've got unfinished business.

Some of you have asked what our Ghost Whisperer stars do for fun between shoots. Well, when they're not working on scenes with us, here's what goes on — Camryn Manheim recently supported the premiere of Brad Pitts' new movie, Inglourious Basterds; David Conrad has been spending time bonding with his new TV son by playing catch in between scenes; Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy took in a day of baseball at Dodgers Stadium and Christoph Sanders has been catching waves on the beach every chance he can get!
