Jan. 7, 2007, Episode: The Fullerton-Machacek Family

Go Big Red! This week's gig takes us to Lincoln, Nebr., home of the Huskers. It was a little cold, but absolutely beautiful. After getting to know this community, I understand why it's called the heartland of America. We're here for a very special purpose — to unite two families into one and build them their dream home. We have Mom, Teresa Fullerton, and her three children — Tucker, Brianna and Chelsey — and Dad, Kenny Machacek, and his two — Erika and Justin. Kenny and Teresa desperately want to be married and create one big family. But for the last four years, they have been splitting their time between Kenny¹s very cramped house and Teresa's even more cramped apartment. They tried to sell Kenny's house to buy a bigger one; however, there are serious structural and foundation problems with Kenny's home, making that option impossible. It's pretty cool if you think about it; so many families are always going in separate directions with soccer practice, ... read more

Your Holiday Gift: Three Nights of My Boys

Hello!First of all, I just want to extend a big, hearty thank-you to those of you who have written to let us know that you support the show. Clearly it worked, as we will be back in production next spring! The airing of the last episodes will be a little different now, so I hope you can stay tuned. This will be the schedule: All-new episodes will start at 10 pm/ET tonight and tomorrow night and the season finale will start at 10 pm/ET on Thursday night. Some of you mentioned that you appreciate the Chicago "shout-outs" (as the kids say). We have some pretty die-hard Chicago fans on our writing team who would shoot the whole show there if given permission to. So would I, actually. I visited the city for the first time before starting the show to get a feel for it, and I've since been back several times.Well, in one episode, we make reference to a venue called the Hideout, saying that "Sam Winch's band" will be playing there. Sam Winch is a friend of our writer, Eric Gilliland, and has ... read more

Patch’sYule Blog

Hello, friends. The holidays are upon us. Everyone is busy running around trying not to forget anyone on their list. I for one don’t want to forget to thank all of you wonderful people who have supported me during these past seven months. Your letters, cards, chats and especially your blog comments have been insightful and a constant source of energy and inspiration in my humble work. You remind me that it is a privilege to be able to do what I do. Also, a big thank-you to Gina from NBC publicity, who started this whole blog thing with me and has since moved to New York to take another job in the company. Happy holidays, Gina! My last blog brought on an unexpected deluge of Tootsie Pops. It was a total surprise when I started receiving box after box of Tootsie Pops. The Tootsie Pops brought on scores of inquiries from my coworkers at the studio. Like this one from our mail dude at work: Wendy (short for a really long name I can’t spell) came a-sauntering down the hall aft... read more

A Benihana Christmas... Re-Gifted

Hello, friends and fans of The Office. The Office's party gal here. This week's episode is a rerun of last week's, "A Benihana Christmas," so if you missed it... consider this your oportunity to get a second chance. And if you watched last week, consider this Meredith ordering another round of the same for everyone at Poor Richards. So drink up!A bunch of the Dunder-Mifflin gang got together last week to watch "A Benihana Christmas" at the home of its writer, Jen[nifer Celotta]. She did a great job, didn't she? It was great to see everybody... well, almost everybody. I can't wait until we start back in January. It's going to be a lot of fun.I wish you all a very merry Christmas, a happy Hanukkah and a fantastic new year filled with great joy and more episodes of The Office. Is that lame of me to say? The Office does bring great joy. And DVDs make great Christmas gifts, even if the gift is for yourself. It's all good.I am off to Philadelphia for the holidays. I'll be at my family's b... read more

Father, Daughter Team on New Episode of My Boys

Hey, everybody — Tomorrow night you will witness a legend. We have a guest star in the "Superstar Treatment" epsiode who has been a huge writer, producer, director and actor in this business forever. His name is Jay Tarses. Just to name a couple of things he's done, he was the producer and writer of a little-known show, The Bob Newhart Show, and played Coach Bobby Finstock in Teen Wolf (yes!!!). He is also the father of our other executive producer, the equally legendary Jamie Tarses. It was pretty funny, actually, to witness his daughter as the boss of him on the set. Also on the great-news front, I just found out that My Boys has been picked up for nine more episodes! That's nine more episodes of pure comedy gold! Thank you, guys, for watching and supporting our show. Happy holidays, Jordana read more

December 19, 2006: The Bachelor Party and Stolen Vows

Let me start with two completely unrelated facts that you should tell everyone you know:1) Someone just sent me the complete version of the Michael Richards meltdown, and the one part that was cut out of the version most people saw is where Hugh Laurie is high-fiving him. 2) We're on twice this week. Tuesday at 9 and 9:30 pm/ET.In keeping with the theme of twos, this week I'm going to present to you the two-part Big Day guide to torturing your coworkers. 1) Outthinking: "The Kurt Fuller."During this week of shooting, Josh Cooke and I spent countless hours in his trailer playing Connect Four for $50 a game. Josh and I were about evenly matched, having a good time, feeling solid about our skills, until Kurt showed up. He watched for a few minutes, and then he asked to play. Thankfully, we didn't play him for money. We played him just for "fun."I use quotation marks because it didn't take us long to realize that the fun was over. For one thing, we learned quickly that Kurt Fuller is th... read more

Sex in Aisle 4

'What Women Want'This is our fourth episode and my favorite. Without giving too much away, four of our characters get it on. It’s a make-out free for all. There’s also a fight—two characters end up with black eyes. What more could you ask for? This was my first real kissing scene as an actor and I was scared to death. Actually, I had a brief kiss in an episode of ‘Jesse’ on NBC. I played Christina Applegate’s mute brother—probably the easiest gig of my life. I had a network job sandwiched between ‘Friends’ and ‘Frazier’ (by the way, I think 30 minutes of black screen sandwiched between ‘Friends’ and ‘Frazier’ would get good numbers). I got network money and I didn’t have to learn any lines! Although I have to admit that is sort of what I’m doing now. Since the show is improvised, I don’t have any lines to learn, but somehow it doesn’t feel as easy as those salad days on ‘Jesse’.My... read more

Follow Your Bliss

Happy holidays, everyone. The tides have changed for jailbird Brad Bellick. May the circle be unbroken. I wonder how long an ex ass-guard is gonna last in the Big House. Don't pick up the soap. Again we're off for hiatus, but this time we'll be back much earlier, with a recap [airing] Jan. 22! Then new episodes begin Jan. 29. We're still shooting here in Dallas — we've got two weeks off for the holidays, then back to work in early January — so we didn't get the three-month break this time. I think it'll be better for everyone. It's nice to gain a little anticipation with a hiatus, but three months was ridiculous! This is a little more like it.I thought [the fall finale] was a great episode. Surprises galore, turncoats, reversals of fortune... a lot like politics these days!I'm loving what the writers are giving Bellick this year. He's gotten to travel from the depths of despair to being $5 million richer to being put into his worst nightmare — back in gen pop in the p... read more

Episode 10: A Benihana Christmas

Season's greetings from Kate Flannery! The Office presents its new, one-hour Christmas episode this week!Christmas is coming, Christmas is coming! The Office Christmas episode is twice as nice! No, I am not referring to my boobs. (It was last season's "Christmas Party" episode when the drunken Meredith went topless in Michael's office.) No, no, it's twice as nice because it's a full hourlong episode. I can't count how many fans have written me on MySpace or commented here at TVGuide.com and said the words, "I wish The Office was an hour." Well? Let me quote Dwight K. Schrute by saying, "It's a Christmas miracle!" This is the deal: It was a fake goose. No goose was hit by Dwight K. Schrute. No birds were killed. Get this: The Office starts at 8 pm/ET instead of 8:30 this week! Set your TiVo or DVR or DVD-burner or VCR or your Greg Brady-style tape recorder (a method I used as a child in the '70s when there was no alternative, except maybe writing it all down as fast as humanly possib... read more

Two new guest stars to join My Boys

I'm happy to tell you about two of our guest stars in this Tuesday's episodes. In episode 105, you will meet Brendan's on-again, off-again girlfriend, Wendy, played by Lindsey Stoddart. Lindsey has been a longtime improv performer at the Improv Olympic West. She is a recurring character on My Boys, so you don't want to miss her introduction — clearly! In episode 106, Johnny Galecki makes the first of a couple of appearances on the show. He plays Trouty, the epitome of a bad hang. You may know him from Roseanne as Darlene's boyfriend. Johnny is an amazing actor. He is currently performing in a Broadway play called "The Little Dog Laughed." When we started shooting this episode, he had just finished a movie the night before. He didn't wrap until four in the morning and had been doing a scene in which he was crying and puking. (Apparently it was a drama — let's hope). Just a few hours later, he arrived on our set as a completely different character in a comedy. Well, I thou... read more
