Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul

American Idol fans seem to be OK with this season's addition of a fourth judge, but what about those who sit at the dais themselves?

A war of words has broken out between veteran judge Paula Abdul and newcomer Kara DioGuardi, all spurred on by an interview Paula gave to a tabloid.

Abdul reportedly told OK! Magazine that while she "gets along great" with DioGuardi, a fellow singer-songwriter, Idol has "tried four judges before and it doesn't work. It takes up so much time for each of us to give our opinion that it slows down the pace of the show."

DioGuardi promptly fired back, telling Access Hollywood, "Paula has a right to her opinions, but I was disappointed by her comments, and hurt that she did not address them to me in person."

"I am proud of my contributions to the show," Kara added, "and remain excited about the rest of the season."

Abdul, in turn, now claims that she is not OK with how OK! characterized her quotes, contending that they were taken out of context. "I was actually referring to the use of guest judges in seasons past, not Kara" Paula tells ET. "I am thrilled to have her by my side each week on Idol."

What's your take, Idol faithful? Genuine discord between two songstresses, or mere publicity stunt? Does hearing from a fourth panelist in fact make the pace more plodding, or do you welcome Kara's informed and well-articulated insight?
