Hmm.... An Idol contestant turned judge? After a dueling-pianos performance with fellow former Idol Matt Giraud, Scott MacIntyre said he felt so at home on the American Idol stage that he'd like to replace the departing Simon Cowell.
Who should replace Simon Cowell on American Idol?
"I would love to replace Simon," MacIntyre said at the American Idol Top 12 party on Thursday night. "I can rock those V-necks and I can do the British accent: 'It was rubbish!' I can't be that mean, but I think I'd be good. I'm going to apply."
MacIntyre, 24, placed eighth on Idol's Season 8, and his album, Heartstrings, debuted on iTunes and Scott MacIntyre.com on the same night he returned to the show.
"'Heartstrings' has got a little contemporary edge to it," MacIntyre said. "Every song I wrote is very personal to me. It's about love, it's about loss, it's about the hardships of another person when you can't do anything. It's about trying to find hope when there's hopelessness around. They're all things I've been through in my life. I've put a lot of my heart into every song and it's always been about sharing a message."

The aspiring judge's verdict on this season? "I was a little disappointed in some of the eliminations," MacIntyre said. "It's been so inconsistent. I think I need [a few weeks] before I can tell you what's going to happen... I'm not getting it yet."
Do you think MacIntyre would be a good replacement for Cowell?
