"It's true!" Lambert tweeted. "In addition to performing on Idol April 14th, I will be mentoring the top 8 on the 13th. I feel honored to be asked."

The 28-year-old singer, who was Season 8's runner-up, recognizes that he's new to the game, but hopes his experience will be helpful. "Even though I'm just at the start of my recording career, I hope to lend some insight as one who's been thru the Idol adventure," Lambert wrote.

Lambert also insisted that his Idol performance won't be a redo of his salacious performance at the American Music Awards. "Don't worry America: I will be beyond family friendly," Lambert said. "Relax and enjoy."
