Kris Allen "Flattered" By Adam Lambert's Crush

Kris Allen and Adam Lambert

American Idol champ Kris Allen says he is "flattered" that runner-up and former Idol roommate Adam Lambert found his good looks "distracting."

"I'm flattered," Allen told People. "And think it's hilarious."

In the same Rolling Stone interview in which he said he's gay, Lambert described his reaction to the news that he would be rooming with Allen: "I was like, 'Oh, s--t, they put me with the cute guy.' Distracting!" Lambert said. "He's the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean, he's open-minded and liberal, but he's definitely 100 percent straight."

The feeling wasn't fleeting: Lambert told 20/20 in an interview airing Friday that he still finds Allen hot. "He's a good-looking guy," he said. "I think that a lot of people out there who watch the show can agree with me."

Lambert also talks more about his sexuality in the sit-down. He says that while speculation swirled around the topic during Idol, he was never in the closet.

"I am gay, and I'm very comfortable with it," he said. "'Come out' is so funny to me because I've never been in. I've always been out. I just chose to avoid it. I didn't ... I don't feel closeted. Everybody that I worked with knew about my personal life."

Lambert's full 20/20 interview airs Friday at 10 pm/ET on ABC.
