American Idol Contestant Cut Because of Criminal Record

Simon Cowell

American Idol has just begun and already one contestant has been booted for bad behavior.

Kirkland, Wash., native Danielle Hayes received a golden ticket to Hollywood Week after her performance of "I'm the Only One" wowed judges Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi in Denver. But producers took back her ticket just a few days before she was set to leave because of her past criminal record, The Seattle Times reports.

Hayes is currently on probation and producers for the show would have had to get permission for her to leave the state. Hayes was cited for driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana in 2008.

Hayes says producers encouraged her to audition again next year.
