American Idol champ David Cook has canceled two college campus shows for undisclosed "personal family matters."
"Please respect his privacy at this time. David would like everyone to rest assured that we are working with the Universities to reschedule the shows that are missed," read a posting on his official website.
Cook nixed two shows earlier this week at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H. and Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Conn.
The singer's brother, Adam, has been battling brain cancer for more than a decade, but Cook did not specify if the cancellations were related to the illness. Cook spent time with his brother last week, People reports.
You can still catch Cook Wednesday night: The Season 7 winner will appear on Idol in a taped performance to sing his new single, "Come Back to Me."
