David Archuleta Signs Management Deal

David Archuleta

David Archuleta has inked a deal with Azoff Management after being passed over by American Idol's 19 Management, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Season 7 runner-up, whose debut album is due Nov. 11, will join Azoff's long roster of big namers, including Christina Aguilera, The Eagles, Neil Diamond and Morrisey.

But don't think reported stage daddio Jeff Archuleta relinquished his reins so easily. The elder Archie will co-guide his son's budding career with Azoff's Jared Paul, the man behind fellow pop balladeers Nick Lachey and New Kids on the Block.

Despite all the early frontrunner and Battle of the Davids hoopla, 19 Management (part of the Idol-producing 19 Entertainment), which gets first look at contestants, passed on signing Archuleta, only nabbing David Cook. However, the 17-year-old is part of the 19 Recordings family.
